The Master's program of North American Studies is open to people holding a Bachelor's degree in American Studies, English (Anglistik), Cultural Studies, or in related courses in the Humanities. This page details the requirements for application and guides you through the application process.

How Do I Apply?

There are different modes of application for international students from non-EU/EEA countries, and for German and EU/EEA countries. There are also different application periods for these two groups - please refer to the university profile of the North American Studies program and open "Admission requirements and application" for details about the application process as well as for access to the online application platform. 

Non-EU: Applications for the program will be processed through the work and service center for international study applications called uni-assist e.V. To apply, you need to follow these steps:

  • Step 1: Register with uni-assist
  • Step 2: Search for degree programs and create an application
  • Step 3: Upload the necessary documents 
  • Step 4: Check your application and send it electronically

The costs for processing your application are € 75 for the first application and € 30 for each additional application in the same semester. A new application in the following semester costs € 75, each additional application in the same semester costs € 30. EU/EEA: The application is processed through the university application platform, which opens only during the application period. The first step of application requires the completion and submission of the online application form. For details of the application process as well as for access to the online application platform, please refer to the profile of the North American Studies program and open "Admission requirements and application."
